Barbecue Day!

Our "DINNER LADIES" Liz, Shelley & Jackie

I have just got in from attending the annual barbeque and felt I had to sit down and get this newsletter out and say to those who couldn't make it, what a great day you missed.

The weather saved its best for us it was truly fantastic. The turn out was also brilliant as there were not that many members who couldn't make it.

The barbeque itself was out of this world. Many thanks to Rob & Paul who arranged all the top quality food and drink but I suspect their wives had a large input. So therefore many, many thanks to the ladies, Shelley, Liz, and Jackie - they served up a treat and looked after us well, so well in fact they have been booked again for next year!

Although it was proposed to have a couple of competitions this never quite happened, but members and guests seemed quite happy to fly off the peg and it worked quite well. Only poor Dave Evans had a problem - he couldn't find the frequency peg for channel 65. He did find it in the end however; I will try and find out who had nicked it.

Dave also supplied awnings and a portaloo, which I am sure the ladies found very 'convenient'. (Pun intended)

I think the flight line arrangements and vehicle parking worked out quite well and allowed quite a large display of models in the pits area.

Overall I think the day was a great success, our best yet. If there are some things you think may improve the day even more next year, please let us know - we are hoping for more ideas but don't make it to technical as we do not want anything to serious and spoil the fun.

I also must add that my model gave us some entertainment. It flew like the proverbial 'Camel' and thanks to Bob Hatt I didn't take it home in a carrier bag. It was its maiden flight and there was a 'slight' problem with the c of g. I am looking for volunteers to take it up again. (Don't all rush at once)!

One other bit of news is that our landlord David Brian and his wife have put a toilet at our disposal. I don't know the exact position but it is near the farm house. If it is used please look after it and keep it clean and tidy. The committee will have a look at it and see if it needs any tools, loo brush and so on.
