Welcome to the Worcester Model Aero Club

A sunny Sunday at Hanbury

The W.M.A.C. is among the oldest model flying clubs in the world having been formed in the early 1900’s. (There is a brief history of the club on the history page. )

We are fortunate enough to have two grass flying sites which we use on alternate days. One is in the Hanbury area just to the east of Droitwich, and the other at Rushwick just to the west of Worcester.

The club caters for all aspects of model flying, and we fly models ranging from small 24" wingspan up to 30% petrol engined scale airplanes. We have some very experienced modellers who lovingly hand craft their own models, and those who happily buy from the wide range of 'Almost Ready To Fly' kits. We have members with gliders, bungee or electric motor launched, and one or two that are tug plane launched.

We have a handful of helicopter pilots, both i.c. and electric powered.

Battery and motor technology has improved dramatically over the last few years and an increasing number, though currently still a minority, are choosing this for some or all of the above.

We have an active group of instructors who will willingly teach you should you be new to the hobby. We adhere strictly to the B.M.F.A. Award scheme and have examiners in the club who will enable you to obtain your ‘A’ or ‘B’ certification. However as we have very few club helicopter pilots we are unable to offer tuition for those models.

If you'd like to come along and see what goes on, please ring one of the committee members on the contacts page and we'll be happy to arrange to meet you at a club site.
