WMAC News

1 Jul 2008The saga of the motorcycle meet at Rushwick on the 6st July continues. This date has now also been cancelled, so as of today there are no further even dates with motorcycle meetings booked.
22 Jun 2008It seems that the rescheduled motorcycle meet on the 22nd has been re-rescheduled to the 6th July. If on this occasion you'd rather fly instead at Rushwick on Saturday 5th, then please do so, otherwise Hanbury will be open for flying on Sunday. We apologise for the short notice, but don't of course have the power of veto!
22 Jun 2008There is a motorcycle meet at Rushwick on the 22nd June, so for safety reasons please don't fly there that day. Instead Hanbury is open for flying on Sunday or if you prefer Rushwick will be available on the Saturday.
1 Apr 2008As from the 1st Rushwick is open as usual on even days. Please note that we return to alternate days at Rushwick & Hanbury.
18 Oct 2007Please note the club AGM will be held at the Barbourne Ex-Servicemans club at 8pm on the 12th Dec. All members welcome including prospective new members.
14 Oct 2007Please note the new shooting party exceptions to flying dates at Hanbury.
5 Oct 2007We've received a complaint from the farmers wife at the neighbouring farm visible looking directly down the runway. The complaint isn't about noise but regards overflying her land and property. There is no conceivable reason to overfly her buildings given their distance, but she understands and accepts our need to land into wind. Please remember to completely avoid her field adjacent to ours at all times during routine flying, and try your utmost to keep any incursion to the absolute minimum during landing. If you have any doubts over the geography please consult a member of the committee.
24 Sep 2007We've received a notification from the BMFA announcing an indoor flying venue at Bishop Perowne College - take a look here.
10 Aug 2007Foot & mouth: There are no access restrictions in force at either of our two flying sites and the farmers are happy for us to use the fields. However it goes without saying that if you have driven on farmland anywhere near the current outbreak restriction zone during the last two weeks then please stay away. Both sites are dry and parking is permitted in the pit area.
1 Aug 2007The recent dry spell has allowed the site at Rushwick to fully drain and dry out. I've mown today and the site is again available for use. Access has dried out too apart from the sheep poo! Hanbury is also fully operational so we will now revert to the normal alternate day site usage.
23 July 2007Once again the terrible flooding in Hereford & Worcester has resulted in the Rushwick site being under water. It may be some time before we can get the strip in usable condition, so until then the committee has arranged that Hanbury may be used 7 days a week with the usual time restrictions.
10 July 2007Although we did manage some restricted flying on Sunday with either larger models or hand launches, it was still too wet to mow. However the site has now dried sufficiently and I have been able to mow today. Access is now fine and the runway quite usable and should accomodate all models.
5 July 2007With the awful flying weather we've had over the last few months the Rushwick site has been under water. Although the floods have now receded the ground remains very wet and I have been unable to mow there for some considerable time. As of today that remains the case, so it is unlikely we shall be able to fly there this weekend.
Oh, and Woodspring Wings is cancelled for this weekend due to flooding too!
3 Dec 2006Just a reminder to all members that we hold our AGM on Tuesday 12th December at the Barbourne Ex Servicemens Club at 8pm, so please try and attend to have your say. Prospective new members are also very welcome although of course you won't be able to vote.
30 Oct 2006We held an EGM on the 30th to discuss the purchase of two new mowers to replace our broken ones. The motion to sell our banks windfall shares to pay for them was carried and we have negotiated a special price that will be honoured when we actually need them early next year. Probably in sympathy with the Hanbury mower, the Rushwick one bit the ground just before our EGM and has terminally damaged the cutter plate. Hence the need to replace them both. Members may view meeting minutes on the members only page.
17 Sep 2006We had our very successful barbeque day on Sunday. Many thanks to all those who helped to organise the event, and also to the many who attended. See here for more details.
